How to Use the Profiles Section

Profiles Section

The Profiles section works with your site's registered users and shows a custom profile that people can view. This section is perfect for "About Us" pages. Users can upload their own profile picture and set their Profile Title & Description. Administrators can choose which profiles to display, as well as filter multiple profiles based on a user's "role."

After you have purchased, installed, & activated the Profiles section, you must then enable it in your template.

From your WordPress Administration Panel:

1. Select the "PageLines" panel, then "Templates"
2. Select the Template Area that you want the Profiles section to go
   • If you select the "Page Template area, by default the Profiles section will be displayed on every page that is assigned to the type of Page Template you choose
   • If you select "Header," "Footer," or "Morefoot," by default the Profiles section will be displayed on every page regardless of the Page Template
3. Drag the "Profiles" section from the "Available/Disabled Sections" over to the "Active Sections"
4. The Section Order will save automatically

You will now see an empty Profiles section on every page that it is active on. If you don't want the Reader section to be displayed on all of those pages, you must configure your pages to show/hide it

From your WordPress Administration Panel:

1. Select the "Pages" panel, then "All Pages"
2. Click to edit the page that you wish to hide the Profiles section
3. On the "Meta Panel," click the "Page Setup" tab
4. Under "Individual Page Section Control," click "Hide Profiles"
5. Click "Save Meta Settings"

Because the Profiles section is displayed by default when you enable it, you will need to use this method for every page that you do not want the Profiles section displayed.

You can also hide the Profiles section by default, and choose the pages you want to show it on.

From your WordPress Administration Panel:

1. Select the "PageLines" panel, then "Templates"
2. Make sure you have the correct Template Area selected for the type of page you want to hide
3. Under "Active Sections" click "ProfilesOptions"
4. Click "Hide This By Default"
5. The Section Options will save automatically

Show Profiles

Now the Profiles section will be hidden by default until you select to show it on the individual page.

1. Select the "Pages" panel, then "All Pages"
2. Click to edit the page that you wish to show the Reader section
3. On the "Meta Panel," click the "Page Setup" tab
4. Under "Individual Page Section Control," click "Show Profiles"
5. Click "Save Meta Settings"

Now that you've configured which pages will show the Profiles section, it's time to set up the user's profile.

User Profiles

1. Select the "Users" panel, then "All Users"
2. Click to edit the profile that you wish to configure
3. Under "Profile Options," click "Admin Options"
   1. Check to enable this user in the Profiles section
   2. Set the User Profile Priority
   3. Add a CSS class if you want to do custom styling
4. Click "Profile"
   1. Upload a Profile image
   2. Enter a Profile Title
      • This will be displayed at the top of the Profile image
   3. Enter a Profile Description
      • This will be displayed at the bottom of the Profile
5. Click "Save Profile Options"

Profiles Meta

Now that you have set up your profiles, there are a few more page-level steps that are needed to control some display options.
From your WordPress Administration Panel:

1. Select the "Pages" panel, then "All Pages"
2. Click to edit the page that you wish to customize
3. Under "PageLines Meta Settings," click "Profile"
   1. Profiles Per Row
      • Select the number of users to display per row
   2. Total Number of Profiles To Show (optional)
      • Select the number of users shown on the page
   3. Select User Role
      • Which user role should be used for this section
      • Offset Users (optional)
   4. Profile Colors
      • Enter the price or primary highlight text to show for this column
      • Click "Save Meta Settings"
