Events is a custom post type PageLines section, designed & built to give you ultimate control in how events are created, and displayed. The entire section is modular, in that it’s practically driven with the (8) included shortcodes. This approach gives you, the user, maximum flexibility.

In fact, you could practically build an entire site utilizing this section in conjunction with the (8) included shortcodes.

Setup

  1. Head to Drag & Drop, and locate Events and Events Archive. Switch out PostLoop, for Events in both instances.
  2. Go to Page Options—>Events, and set your slugs.
  3. Create an Event on the left. Continue following instructions on single Event Options panel on single Event page.

Features

Eventbrite Registration
Simply supply an Event ID and the main button will feature a drop-down drawer with your Eventbrite registration stuff in place. You can also use the shortcode version anywhere on your site.

Multiple Views
Use the archive view filtered by month, or included shortcodes to achieve many more types of different views.

Powerful Shortcodes
Events is practically run using (8) custom shortcodes. This approach allows you to setup the Event pages and archives however you see fit. The shortcodes run on pages even when the section isn’t active on the page. Shortcodes included; Agenda, Sponsors, Tabs, Slideshow, Featured Slideshow, Signup, Event List, & Single Event.

Amazingly Responsive
A lot of development time was spent with Events on the responsive touches, making this one amazingly responsive section. Every piece, down to the shortcodes themselves have been built to give mobile users a beautiful experience.

Detailed Documentation
There’s docs in the Options Panel, docs in the Global Panel, and an online Docs guide with basically the same info as found within the section. There’s also an overview video to top it all off.

Has some interesting features, but needs a lot more work

Apr 16, 2013 by Anca Mosoiu

There are two things that events plugins need to be able to do. This plugin only does one of them, and not really well at that.

First, an event plugin needs to make it simple to add data about events: Event dates, times, and locations. This plugin has a place to enter this information, but there's no actual data validation here. I can type in an invalid date, such as Wednesday, April 15, 2013. I can even have an event at 75:00 PM.

The event information is not displayed on the event page by default - you have to use one or more shortcodes to get any event information to show up.

There is a nice feature, which is integration with Eventbrite - you can create a registration button for your event that goes straight to Eventbrite just based on an Eventbrite ID.

Second, an event plugin needs to display an event calendar, by dates. This plugin produces a page with boxes that have numbers in them, not associated with any months or years. It's possible to create a calendar that shows events by month, but this is an annoying process that involves using a shortcode. The event calendar is not related to actual dates for events, but to a "month" that you select like a category, so in theory you could have events that happen on 15 November show up under a listing for April. Oh, and the April events would be for all years, not just for the current year.

Some of the features I like:

- The shortcodes that come with this plugin can be used in many places. You can include an event button anywhere on the site, for example, by using a shortcode that specifies an event ID.

- Again, once you know the shortcodes, the individual events page can get quite fancy. You can create a slideshow, custom event sidebars, and something called an "agenda" that's a series of sliding boxes below your events where you can show some content.

Would I recommend this plugin to anyone looking for an event calendar? The short answer is no, at least not until the developer fixes some of the more obvious flaws.

This plugin is NOT recommended for anyone without knowledge of WordPress shortcodes. It's not possible publish an event on your site without using the right shortcode, which means that most non-technical people will have a lot of trouble using it.

This plugin is also not recommended for anyone who wants a date-based event calendar.

Hey @nphaskins, having a few issues with the plugin.

LET ME PREFERNCE THIS

1. [ONLY IN CHROME] When loading he page and clicking on "REGISTER NOW" the url ads "/#events-eb-modal" to the end. The form drops down, then back up again...  If i delete "#events-eb-modal" it works as the demo?

2. the agenda section it not showing the complete agenda for an event ( missing the last 2)

3. WIth the single event shortcode, i can't seem to get the "REGISTER NOW" button to work - can you give a working example?

see the site i'm referring to here: http://nourisheducaiton.com.au

thanks

Hi, gravity form id is not working for the registration form. I left both other fields empty. Any ideas.

Further, when using the [event_single] shortcode, the month is not displayed. Could that be added?

Thanks!

- The month is also missing when using [event_list]

- Would be nice when the titles of the events in the agenda (when using [event_agenda]) are links, so users can go to the event page.

- On the events overview page users only can see the date. Only when they hoover over the date they can see the title of the event. It's much more user friendly if users van see the title (and maybe the excerpt), so they can scan the page for events they like.

@nphaskins Could you please add the month when using the  [event_list] shortcode? I am using your plugin, but it is not user friendly to have a list with events without the month being displayed.

@nphaskins You welcome. Another point. Would it be possible to sort the events page and [event_list] by date by default? Month is also missing when using the [event_list] shortcode. Would be great.

@JelleBrouwer Thanks for all the feedback. I just tested gravity forms and works just like the demo does.

great plugin but was wondering if a thumbnail of an event flyer can be displayed in a list view for the side bar?

@dyer ya the shortcodes can be used to display them in the sidebar but they currently dont have thumbnail support. its something I can definitely add on in an update though.
