Footer Extras
Live DemoScreenshots Changelog

1.1

  • Added Start Year for copyright to override dynamically getting start year from first post/page published.
  • Added Latitude and Longitude for geo-coordinate schema. Useful for Google and other search engines to properly place business on maps.

1.0.1

  • Added check to make sure Pagelines is running

Footer Extras puts a few extra items below your footer area that are nice to have but don’t need to be displayed prominently.

• Display a dynamically generated copyright notice with the year(s) pulled from your first and last published posts.

• Show your business name, address and phone (NAP) in schema.org format for local search. Still useful even if you aren’t a local business.

• Space for an additional line of text, ideal for web designer credit and link.

Hi Ellen,

I like your plugin a lot, thanks for developing it.  The only problem I'm having with it is that when an article is google plused, the business name and details from the footer is captured as the heading, instead of the article name. This unfortunately can not be edited in google plus.  Anyway to stop this from happening?

@Tinsky I'm going to look into this and see how to fix. The Google+ button picks up the schema markup first then goes on to find the post title.  Even with the Facebook Open graph checked in the Header/Footer settings in Pagelines -> Site Options.

I'll let you know when it has been fixed or how to work around.

Great catch!

Ellen

I agree that this plugin is really cool. I too am having the issue that @Tinsky mentioned earlier with Google+ shares. Have you had any luck finding a solution or workaround yet?

@caiDOTio @Tinsky Sorry not to get back on this issue. I've put a request to have the page/post title identified with schema markup but don't know if it will be implemented.

I'm going to look and see if I can make Footer Extras pick up the page/post title and put the schema markup for it.

I will reply again by the end of the week just to let you know what is up.

Again, sorry not to have responded sooner.

Hi Ellen,

Just wanted to say great job on this plugin!  I've been manually adding the schema markup to the footers of the sites I'm developing.  It's good to see there's a developer who understands the importance of NAP and schema.

Local is my primary space... have you thought about adding geo coordinates to the schema?  Here's an example of how we include geo coordinates in the markup:

<div itemtype="http://schema.org/LocalBusiness" itemscope="">
<span itemprop="name">BUSINESS NAME</span>
<span itemtype="http://schema.org/PostalAddress" itemscope="" itemprop="address">
<span itemprop="streetAddress">123 Main St, Ste 101</span>, <span itemprop="addressLocality">City</span>, <span itemprop="addressRegion">ST</span> <span itemprop="postalCode">90210</span> Phone: <span itemprop="telephone">(212) 555-1212</span></span></div>
<div itemtype="http://schema.org/GeoCoordinates" itemscope="" itemprop="geo">
  <meta content="12.345678" itemprop="latitude">
  <meta content="-98.76543" itemprop="longitude">
</div>

Again, great job and thanks for creating this!

@webmktgco I'm working on an update and I will add the geocoordionates in so people can enter latitude and longitude.  Great suggestion!

I just installed this plugin in zip file format and having major issues. How do I remove?

 @AtlantaDanna Sorry you are having problems.  Since it is a plugin you can uninstall it right through WordPress Plugins.

I'm curious though to what the issues are and see if we can get them sorted so you can use it. If you could post over in the forum under Store Products that would be great or you can email me using the Contact button by my photo above.

Thanks.

Ellen

Hi Ellen,

thank you for this plugin! One very basic question: where can I change the settings, add text, etc.? I wasn't able to find this.

Thanks,

Benedikt

 @benedikt You can change the settings in Pagelines --> Site Options and there will be a tab for Footer Extras.
