Bad Ass Shortcodes 2.0

Version 2.0 brings an entirely new and fresh shortcode generator, along with several new shortcodes including a Gist shortcode, and Post Carousel shortcode with 16 different attributes!

Post Carousel

The new Post Carousel shortcode in Bad Ass Shortcodes 2.0 is extremely versatile, and can be used in a variety of different applications. By default, you can use the shortcode as is without any attributes. This will show the last 5 recent posts with thumbnail, title, excerpt, comment count, and share count. Comment and share counts are only visible if there are comments or shares. Share count counts the number of tweets, likes, and shares on your post.

You can also use this shortcode to display posts from categories, tags, and even post types. You can also show specific posts. For example, say you wanted to show 3 specific posts, in the order that you put them in. That’s easy! Simply list the ID of each post, separated with a comma. Then, set the orderby attribute to ‘post__in’.

The possibilities with this new shortcode are simply endless! There are 2 additional options sitting in Site Options–>Bad Ass Options. These options allow you to set the minimum height of the items, along with the space between the items (margin).

Note PageLines Framework version 2 or better is required to use this extension.

Great Plugin

Mar 09, 2012 by Tom

This is a great plugin. And now with 1.1, sooo easy to add things that we normally would have to muck around with CSS to have. If you want your blogs to have panache, I would recommend it. Good stuff. I am looking forward to more great ideas to make blogging and building pages faster and easier. Now if Microsoft would just get with the flow, we all would look like genius designers.

Your plug in is a blessing for pagelines templates. I am playing with the accordions which works really well.My only question is how I can change the color of the border?  there is no option on the site options panel and I can't find it in the CSS of the plug in. maybe I am not looking on the right place.  I am using framework updated to the latest version.

@kedark HI, Bad Ass Shortcodes works perfectly for 3.5. You just have a plugin conflict. Do you have any js errors present?

kedark
kedark

@nphaskins There are not any errors pop up. Simply insert button does not work, but as I write the code manually it works great .. Look for, thank you for your help .. Regards

I've got this installed on several sites, but now it's breaking my CSS. It's not allowing an inline div tag with the following CSS to work:

.dealer-list ul .graber-link {width: 240px;height: 120px;background: url(images/category-graber.jpg) top left no-repeat;text-indent: -9999em;float: left;margin: 0 15px 15px 0;

@dwshelton Hi, I'm not exactly sure how it's possible for the CSS in this plugin, to prevent you from adding new CSS?

dwshelton
dwshelton

@nphaskins  @dwshelton Well, before I added the plugin, the CSS worked. When I added it, it stopped working.

Should look like this:

Looks like this instead.

@dwshelton Ok I see, it's because you're using a clear class. You don't need to use a clear class. That clear class is to clear floated items.

dwshelton
dwshelton

@nphaskins The main section. The site without the plugin shows four blocks - CSS driven. The site with the plugin does not. The plugin breaks my very, very simple CSS.

@nphaskins The madeintheshadebf.com site does not have your plugin. The madeintheshadesa.com does.

@nphaskins  since your last update, the plugins css no longer validates, is there a fix for this?

nphaskins
nphaskins

@MTrewe The CSS file hasn't been modified since August 10th 2011.

MTrewe

@nphaskins Right last update was a quick fix, but the one before that, the code no longer validated, where you added a few widgets - I can send you credentials via email, but I have 853 errors 99% are ba related?

nphaskins
nphaskins

@MTrewe I'll look into seeing what I can do about the css errors specific to the shortcodes manana.

MTrewe
MTrewe

@nphaskins Well, I wasn't implying your plugin was bad, just that my problem began with that update. Thanks for your help

Hello, I bought your plugin and I love it, but ...

The Twitter shortcode is not working well, you can not enter the width 100% and is not responsive as it should be, because it is placed on pages responsive (often).

Then, you would enter (again on Twitter) the possibility to choose the options: Search, Faves, & List, which give a true utility. It would be nice if you adjust these things.

Thank you.Fabio

Hi!

I'm using the shortcodes [ba-imagedivider] and [ba-divider] in a text widgets on a sidebar. But after upgrading to 1.7.5 both widgets show:

"Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, class 'baShortCodes' does not have a method 'do_shortcode' in /home/.../public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 170"

Maybe I have to downgrade the plugin?

Too Tanja Lewis in the "review" section above, if you leave a comment I'd be happy to help. I cannot respond, nor do I have control over the "reviews" section that you're posting in.

I'm using the accordian on this page and it doesn't open in IE9.  Any idea what I can do to make it work again?

Mr. Avenger,

I was happily plugging away (no plugin pun intended) putting colored boxes and cool dividers all over my site, when all of a sudden the shortcodes disappeared.  The drop down menu works, but when I click on a shortcode choice, nothing appears in the window.  Oh, wow is me.  Please help.

benyschonfeld

I just upgraded to the latest version and the plugin stopped working... The window opens up, then when you select a shortcode from the menu the "gears" just turn and turn and nothing happens.

Please advice. Thanks.

@benyschonfeld Hey There. Happy to take a look. Most likely another plugin conflicting. You can shoot an email to nick@pagelines.com

I've think I've found a bug. I'm floating an image left and have a list of items flow around it and the float is outside the ul code. When this happens the images (checks in this case) disappear. However, if I float the image to the right, they reappear. Any ideas?

nphaskins
nphaskins

@redroostercreative I'll have to take a look here. Likely because the li items are using background-position for those check marks. There's really no way to tell what folks will use around these shortcodes, so kinda hard to cover all these basis.

I sent a request for a refund because i accidentally purchased this plugin thinking it was an advanced version of "sexy snips". This not something I need at the moment

I'm trying add a drop cap to my blog posts but the drop cap on the front screen doesn't show up and the letter itself is missing. The drop cap shows on the individual post page.  here is the link http://www.taylordarcy.com

nphaskins
nphaskins

@Mr. Darcy I just checked out your site and see where you are trying to use them, unfortunately this is actually a Wordpress limitation, as Wordpress strips out any code used within the excerpt.

Mr. Darcy
Mr. Darcy

@nphaskins  @Mr. Darcy Is there a work around so that at least a letter will be shown in the excerpt and the drop cap will show on the post page? Or something?

nphaskins
nphaskins

@Mr. Darcy Hmm, I just tested this shortcode and seems to work O.K. [ba-dropcap size="5"]D[/ba-dropcap]ropcaps available in 5 different sizes. http://screencast.com/t/JOyFu04IY1WQ

What specific letter are you using, I can try to replicate here locally.

I could not make Accordion work. Here is how I have the code:

[ba-accordion name="Countries"][ba-accordioncontent name="X" heading="X" open="no"]Content for X.[/ba-accordioncontent][ba-accordioncontent name="Y" heading="Y" open="no"]Content for Y.[/ba-accordioncontent][/ba-accordion]

The tab X opens correctly but Y opens X instead of opening its own content.

@nphaskins

I tried to send the information in a private email but the email came back to me. Please let me know what the email address is since "nick@haskinsphotography.com" does not work. By the way, I also have a problem with PDF viewer. I placed this shortcode in the page:

[ba-pdfviewer pdfurl="http://www.barrick.com/Theme/Barrick/files/docs_annual/2012/Barrick-Annual-Report-2011.pdf" width="100%" height="800px"]

But I cannot see anything there. There is just a blank space there instead of the viewer.

Hi Nick,

I have a a strong feeling this is just simple stupidity but I'm hoping you can help.  I downloaded, installed, and went to add columns to a page.  I pulled up the box, clicked columns, the gears turned for a couple seconds and then nothing.  I disabled all of my plug-ins in hopes that something was interfering, but alas, nothing.  I'm running 2.2.5.  I'm sure it's all me but my brain just isn't helping.

Thanks!

nphaskins
nphaskins

@elalderson Hmm, sounds like a js error. There must be another plugin running. I'd be happy to take a look if you'd like. You can email login info to nick@pagelines.com
