Modern Farmer is a print quarterly and website devoted to the people, policy, animals, plants, trends and technology of food and farming. The site itself draws inspiration from a variety of sites including the NY Times Snowfall site. The Design Theorem team did an incredible job with the design, which left me with bringing the entire thing to life along with priority support for mobile and tablets.
The articles themselves are driven by a library of shortcodes (22) custom built just for the site, ranging from masonry driven image grids to multi-column text components driven by CSS3 columns. The team cam build and design articles to look independent from one another, building on a great user experience. There are 12 different single post setups that they can choose from which incorporate a vast array of multimedia components and modules built to blend in with the article themselves. There are several custom post types to display their latest magazine issue, the stories themselves, and tools of the trade that the Modern Farmer team loves and recommends.
