This morning, I was thinking it would be cool to allow people to donate toward features they'd like to see. Here's how it would work...
(1) Someone thinks of a feature they'd like to see added or enhanced in the free or pro versions of a theme. They tell you about it.
(2) The person donates via PayPal (or some such method) toward the development of that feature. Features could be added even if nobody donates, but it would just give people an opportunity to have an extra sense of participation and collective ownership or investment. As an option, there could be a credits space for those donating over a certain dollar amount (not sure how tedious that would be).
(3) The feature could be implemented in a future version of the free or pro theme.
What's cool about this is that it combines the traditional model of the customer paying a consultant to make a modification to their website. Yet, at the same time, everyone can benefit from that modification, since there's no marginal cost associated in sharing it with the entire world.

haha I think they already do that.(1) Someone thinks of a feature they'd like to see added or enhanced in the free or pro versions of a theme. They tell you about it.
This is a good idea, but I think its more effective to develop the features, and then if it makes a big difference people will want to pay a smaller upgrade price.(2) The person donates via PayPal (or some such method) toward the development of that feature. True, just as long as we keep the Pro version vastly superior
I can honestly say that's the first time that's happened. Thanks a ton.I appreciate it so much that I went ahead and paid $75 for the White House Pro 2 theme. It seemed like the easiest way to make a quick donation.
