Using a countdown timer in a Feature Box

I was wondering, can a countdown timer be used in a Feature Box? I have been messing around with it, but the following tag (from a plugin) does not seem to have any effect: [LCT-|-embed] I am wondering if shortcodes don't work? Any help would be appreciated. Hugh
