I've searched the forum for this, but cant seem to find it. I guess it's a good feature to use boxes as showing the latest post in certain categories too. This us a good addition for blogs that are using the magazine style.
Or is that another solution for this? But I like using boxes more as I could add up images for each box.

shortcode could do this. (this grabs the most recent posts title)
[postfeed field="post_title" offset="0"]
You could also consider using a widgetized area like the morefoot or maybe get a plugin like PHPExec which will allow php inside of posts/pages

Dont really understand the method (since my coding knowledge is very basic)
let's say I'm using the shortcode, how do i call out the category i want to show in my box?

The shortcode would only pull the latest post so forget about that one.
Did you try messing with the morefoot (3-column sidebar)? or will that not work as you are using it for something else?
