Hi,

 

The more I build my website, the slower it gets and I feel not even like using thát many plugins.

I've been searching on the web and noticed there's a lot of possibilities like coding, clean up css etc.. that can make website really fast!

 

Are there anny suggestions or tips to look for on the web that helps me make the loeading time of my website fast(er)?

Website speed has many factors but the main one is the location and host.

 

As you never provided a hostname in the post im assuming its the one listed as private in your profile.

Now I know what I should do! I was calling my hosting to asko and they told me all packages have the same "website speed", only the storage space differs. wich sounded really strange to me. Maybe I should look for another hosting provider. The one I have now, slows down my website more and more.

At this time it is not that I have huge traffic on my url everyday (wich is planned for the future), but if visitors enter the site I like it to quickly respond; also good for SEO.

There are a lot of providers available with all different  ' package statistics & features'.

Are there really important things to look at and keep in mind when choosing one?

 

I was also looking on the net about optimizing wordpress on google > speed up wordpress, and I found several sites like this, >

 every site explains different ways to speed up wordpress. A lot of information and if i will do exactly what is described on all those different speed-up-tip-sites, there is a long way of tweaking ahead of me and I really don't know which given options to choose that are really helpfull with the pagelines framework.

Is it important to follow the steps described on those sites the framework or is choosing another hosting provider enough?

And if it is, what kind of tweaks are reccomendable?

Hi,

 

If you have a good web host provider and possibly use a CDN, then your site should load very quickly. When it comes to hosting you most certainly get what you pay for, cheap hosting such as a plan/package for $5 annually will not provide you with good performance. Now I am not saying that you need to spend thousands but going to cheaphosting dot com isn't the answer either.

 

Cache plugins are really only for sites that receive high traffic, another thing that many people fail to realise is that simply installing/activating a cache plugin is not enough you need to set them up correctly.

However, if you wish to have better performance, you should probably look into a VPS or Dedicated Server.

Much more expensive than the package I have; it is a good investment.

 

One more last question I have about the loading speed: I read several articles that the quicker a website loads, the more priority google gives (SEO, Ranking)

I know this is not the only SEO factor.

One of the things a search engines algorithms look for is page load time, however this is as you said only one of the factors. As Simon mentioned, when reverse IP checking your site, you had over 700 websites on the same server, so that is the cause of a poor load time.

I confirm that - it is a hosting issue. Pagelines is definately not slowing down the website. CSS and java script is handled very well and there is no use to clean something up (which is often suggested).

 

I had a Pagelines installation (out of the box) on a pretty good and expensive host in Germany, but they had strange php and server settings. The page never loadad faster than 1 second, 1.2 seconds average at no taffic. I moved the website to an other host and the same installation loads in average 0.45 seconds (without any kind of caching). I cant tell what exactly the issue was on the first server, but there is a lot which can be set wrong.

 

Loading time of dynamic php websites can be decreased with caching, specially when there is a lot of traffic. I had a very good experience with

  and cachify (a very lean wordpress caching plugin which needs hardly any effort for setup) and recommend both for WP and Pagelines installations - and browser caching is important as well. Many people dont use browser caching because they are afraid that new content will not show up, which is actually wrong.
