Hi

 

I'm relatively new to Platform Pro (Framework v2.4)

When I add the sharebar to my page, it is visible but the links don't work. For example, if I click on Facebook, it creates a share box with no content and it shows the number of likes for Facebook (2.7m) rather than my page.

 

I gather that the coding should create the links automatically so I have probably missed something somewhere.

 

(For the record, it also happens when I use sharebar extended)

 

Any suggestions?

Hi Tiffany,

 

I don't personally use any social media service and therefore, I don't have an account. So would it be possible for you to install a free application called Jing, Jing allows you to capture your screen via image or video.

 

Once installed, can you record your issue, as when I click your social links, it asks me for login information, which as far as I know, is how the Sharebar is intended to work. Once you have logged in, you can then share your content.

Therefore, if you're still using the ShareBar extended, you will need to contact the developer of the section.

No I am not using extended, just sharebar for now. My site won't share so I don't know what to do :-(

Can you disable all non-PageLines plugins and see if this resolves the issue please.

I've already tried that. What I am noticing is that on my other site, the permalinks have a structure with the website name and then the page title eg

On this one, the permalink simply says /pagename (eg /page/) ie no url included

 

Could this be the problem?

As far as I am aware your sites permalink should have no relation to your Social links. However, so we can rule it out, can you provide a screenshot of your sites permalinks structure please i.e. take a screenshot of your Permalinks settings page.

The second image is not displaying the correct permalink information, the image below displays the correct information.

Where it should display (as far as I am aware) the full URL of your site and not what you have in your image.

 

Therefore, can you disable PageLines Framework as the default theme and switch to Twenty Twelve and then go to Wordpress Admin Dashboard > Page and see if the issue in your second image remains.

It's showing test-2 because there is already a post or page with the slug 'test'. It's probably deleted in the trash. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Thanks but that doesn't really address the problem of the share bar not working. It's the same on all pages. I've set up a new page called "this one" and the issue on the permalink is still there - see screenshot.

 

I tried switching to Twenty Twelve and the problem remains. 

 

Could this be an installation issue?

If you have switched to Twenty Twelve which is a theme created by Wordpress and the issue remains, this is an issue with your Wordpress installation and not related to PageLines.

 

I recommend you contact Wordpress support.

I found out today that the issue was caused by a new plugin that my host has automatically started using. My web guy deleted some lines of code from the config and the problem was rectified.
