There is an option under Site Options to select a few standard patterns for your background when using the simplicate theme. The option is under Color Control and has about six different patterns to chose from.  I have selected one of these options but it is not showing up on my site.  I do not have any colors selected under the color control option and have cleared my cache.  I actually see the background for a split second before as the site loads.  I am wondering if there is a compatibility issue with the crack bar or another plugin on my site.

Have you already tried deactivating all active non-PL plugins?

Yes, all plugins are deactivated including pagelines sections

Actually there is no issue on your site, is more about configuration.

Pagelines offers two types of layouts,

1.- Boxed 
2.- Full Width

When Simplicitate use the Boxed one, there is a space ( outside the box) to show the background.

When Simplicitate use the Full Width layout, the content take all the space and in this way the backgound color for the box, cover all the space on the browser, So if you can see the demo page ( http://pagelines.tme...t/simplicitate/ ) click on the config icon left top click on layour and change it to "Full" you will see exactly what you see on your site.

So, if you want to show a background image you need to use the boxed layout.
