Is there a way to select a two column layout for all single post views?

So you'd see this:

Instead of this:

, without me having to select it on each post as shown in the attached?

 

I realize I can make them all that way, and then unselect it on certain pages; I'm just not sure how that will change the event listings.

When you said to change the layout and then edit it on a per page/post basis, that's what you'll need to do. However, you should set it up so you have to do the least amount of changes. For example, if you'll have more posts, then you should set the default site-wide layout to use 2 columns and then change all other posts individually.. or vice versa, whichever is less work for you.
