Your site contains the following CSS:
#footer {
clear: both;
color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.6);
position: relative;
text-align: left;
}
The 0.6 in the color code is setting an opacity of 60%. Changed to 1.0, the text in the body of your Sidebar turns an opaque white.
Using Firebug, you'd be able to find this in moments.

How can I remove the transparancy/opacity that's been added to the paragrapgh text and titles of a text widget placed in the footer?
The text is set to white (#fff) but it looks more pink due to the red background. How can I remove this? According to firebug it's a placeholder element?
