Just starting a new site and I want to be able to put feeds from different categories in boxes on the home pages i.e. newest Posts from category 1 go in box 1, posts from caterory 2 go in box 2 and posts from catergory 3 go in box three. Is there a way of doing this?

You may use a plugin like Special Recent Posts, configured with or without thumbnails, excerpts, dates. etc. I use this combined with WP Boxer plugin to create a single post (I use the title, excerpt, date and thumb). I have also used RSS Feed Readers to pull lists too.
In all cases, I use the WP-Boxer plugin in place of Boxes because you can easily create customized, uniquely styled boxes (content blocks) within the same page. Something you cannot do with boxes.
