Hi all,

 

I searched the forums and couldn't find any information on this, but could anyone help me to remove the "Site Admin" link from the Meta widget in a sidebar?

Hi Trevor,

 

That widget is part of the wordpress core files, we'd advise that you don't edit this otherwise each time you update wordpress it will get overwritten. You'd be better removing the widget and finding one which you could manually enter the fields in you require or using a blank widget to recreate.

The site admin link is only visible to logged in users.

Hi guys - okay, part of core WP files...I get that.  And even only visible to logged in users...got it.  But since I know what the admin login URL is I would like to remove any temptation for anyone else.

 

Is there perhaps a plugin for creating a custom widget that you guys know of?

You could create your own text widget, but ask yourself what are you afraid of?

 

registered logged in users will see the link to the back end.

 

Subscribers wil be able to edit their profile, editors will be able to edit posts, authors will be able to write posts, and of course admin can do everything.

Sure, I get that...I would just prefer that the back-end link not be there.  Is it uber critical?  Not really.  It is a site designer's preference?  Yep.

 

I'll figure something out and many thanks for the ideas.

Edit:  I just found this plugin called (appropriately enough) Custom Meta Widget and it does EXACTLY what I needed.
