Hi,

I just upgraded to the latest version of the framework. I had - as the first time I upgraded - to do it manually. Last time I renamed the folder ot "pagelines_old", uploaded the new and worked without problem.

But with the new update - when renaming the pagelines_old to pagelines the site is no longer visible, it seems that it's linked to the "_old"...

The backoffice no problem but the front office is just white...

When I rename the new one to "pagelines_old" - it's visible again.

Help!

It's obiously working - but not feel very right to continuing this way... I must have done something wrong last time...

Where can I relink to the right name (and then rename again the framework)?

 

(or do I dare just delete it from the theme manager and upload it again...?)

Hi, you can't have duplicate copies of PageLines, and it's a violation of your license to rename the folders.  You may only have wp-content/themes/pagelines on your site. 

 

The duplicate copies cause a problem. 

 

So remove wp-content/themes/pagelines_old and add a new, clean installation.

I don't intended to have duplicate copies and really don't want to do something "illegal" (I can't guess the interest of renaming the folder other from in this step) - I was just following the Technique 2 in this guide:

Hi,

 

The instructions you followed are not for PageLines Framework but Platform Pro, there is a message at the top of that page, informing you of this.

 

PageLines Framework updates automatically, all you need to do is click the update link.

 

There is no need to rename your current pagelines folder to old_ and then upload the latest version. Therefore, rename the old_pagelines folder back to its default name and then activate it.

You only need one pagelines folder, having the two is most likely the cause of your issue.

Sorry but it did not work clicking the update link - that's why i tried to do it differently.

 

I temporary activated another theme, deleted the Pagelines framework, try to upload again but now have an error message:

 

The package could not be installed. The style.css stylesheet doesn't contain a valid theme header.

Theme install failed.

Are you using the Wordpress Theme installer or FTP to upload your theme ?

I also first deleted the pageline folder on the server

OK, well then install PageLines again, using the Wordpress installer and see if it works now. If you receive the same error, can you take a screenshot of your Wordpress > Themes page please and post it here.

Now i had part of the answer - I could never had guess that the client only subscribed for 50 Mo... of server space (they want to chose their own supplier) therefore I struggled with the upload... sorry to bother you when (I suppose) the problem were perhaps there...

 

Called the supplier, who doubled the space and could now delete all old PL folders on ftp, new fresh install and it works just fine!
