Hi,

 

Just would like to share some feedback regarding the base child theme:

 

- the language files do not work when stored in a child theme languare folder. You either have to keep them in the pagelines language folder or in the plugin customization folder. Keeping it in the pagelines folder is not an option (lost when updating) and having the customization plugin installed when you work with a child theme seems redundant. Ideally, the language files work when stored in a child theme language folder.

 

- When you have the base child theme installed you cannot access to the sections part in the pagelines store (in the admin area). You first have to install the sections plugin. This also seems redundant if you already have the base child theme installed.

we use the custom plugin for lang as there are 3rd party themes in the store, and if you update that your lang folder is gone again

Ok. I thought maybe you guys could make it work for the base child theme as well.

yeah, it should work in child theme! I have to remember to upload it after every update - and there are many updates lately... if not child theme then maybe another folder for lang ? Its kinda obvious that it has to be done...

It should work for anything with our Translation Center.

What do you mean ? I did translate some of it by my self (pl_PL)... where should we put it to work outside the pagelines theme ?

There is a solution basmati. Install Pagelines Cusomize plugin and put 'language' folder in it (/wp-content/plugins/pagelines-customize/language) and then your lang file de_DE.mo

OK understand - thanks to the butcher..

but i have to install the pl customize plugin

and i always use child themes - but its impossible to place the language folder into the child themes folder - right?

i tried inside the child theme but it did not work.

so i have to install customize plugin for that?

The PageLines Customize plugin does work with Framework or child themes within it. You may have both the PageLines Customize plugin and child themes providing code at the same time. 

 

The reason you want to use the plugin for the language folder is that it's global.  If you decide to change child themes at some point in future, the language will remain intact. The plugin saves considerable work if you want to change themes.
