didn't seem to work when placed in functions.php.

can you help me "wall up" a buddypress "garden?"

Are you adding this code to the end of the functions.php file? Also, this question is more suited for the BuddyPress support forums since the product is their expertise.

i installed a plugin called "private buddypress" and it worked right out the box.
