. I'm using the to exlude categoreis. Simply Exclude does what's described in the for excluding categories from the blog page, searches etc, just with a handy GUI.
The thing is, with Pagelines, categories aren't excluded anymore. Is this because the code has to be inserted somewhere else in the theme than with the standard wordpress theme?
Is the only workaround to hardcode this in my base-theme?

You are right. The code would need to be inserted somewhere else since the file structure is different from the standard WordPress theme. You'd need to insert it into the appropriate file in the base theme. What does the plugin documentation say about inserting it?

I went with just inserting the code to exclude categories in my functions.php as explained .
