Hi,
Is there a built-in way to create a different template for every category?
I want to display different box-sets for every category page, and I am not sure if I am missing something.
This is what I am trying to achive:
- category "books" - box-set named books
- category "movies" - box-set named movies
- other categories - no boxes
Thanks.

No. However, I recommend the WP-Boxer plugin which you could use, in combination with Special Recent Posts for custom, static Category pages.
Boxer plugin uses shortcode, so you can have specific boxes on each category static page.
Special Recent Posts lets you pull X posts from the category and display them just as the default would do, in full width (not magazine mode)
Together, these can make some awesome category pages.
