can "standard theme" work with pagelines or is that a totally different deal? I like the look and use of standard theme alot.

Standard Theme is basically another theme product to place over your WordPress site. Since PageLines is already the theme you would have to decided which theme to use since you can only use one theme at a time (versus plugins). You can certainly get the same type of layout with PageLines using the drag and drop and possibly some CSS.
