I wanted to be able to hyperlink one of my feature boxes to a basic contact form to collect name and email address details only which I will be setting up in Contact Form 7, but don't want the contact form itself to be anywhere on the website (have its own page or be imbedded anywhere i.e it won't have a url to be able to markup normal hyperlink

Easy, from your WordPress Admin, navigate to:
Plugins > Add New
and search for the "exclude pages" plugin. Install and activate it, then create the contact form page like you would any normal page, but you'll now find an option to hide the page from menus.
After you save, you should be able to see the slug/URL of the page at the top for you to link to.
