Blog Excerpt on Home Page, Blog on Blog Page
• I've read the posts on this or similar topics to no avail. Clearly, I'm missing some kinda big picture thing. Any help much appreciated!

site: http://www.rightbrainbrands.com
theme: PlatformPro using PlatformBase child

I need to have:
• Home page with Feature, blog exerpts (and sidebar)
• Blog page with recent posts, no Feature (with sidebar)

Sounds simple, but I've tried every combo of settings known to man, plug-ins, you name it, and I can only have ONE or the OTHER of the items in the list above. They seem mutually exclusive.

I've tried static home page, posts on home page < every possible combo on that SETTINGS > READING page. Tried tons of stuff with the PP templates, hide by default, etc, WordPress menus. Cannot figure it out.

I generally have a pretty good understanding of WordPress, but this is making me very crazy. Please help. Thank you!
• Well the 'posts' page is the one that shows your blog by default.

If you want to show your recent posts, etc.. on a page template; you could easily do it using a widget.

So I guess the question is: is you home page a page template?
• Ah! I'm having the exact same problem and am going a bit nuts!

I'd like my home page to have 2-3 of the most recent blogs (excerpts), boxes, feature slider (the last two I've set up already).

And my blog page to just have the blogs, no features.

My home page is a page template (Feature page, using PlatformPro)...

How do I do this?

Help would be so, so, so appreciated!
• @Yelizavetta I believe I replied to this question from you in another thread. If not, please let us know and we can get you helped out.

• I'd like to read an answer to this. I set up my home page as Features, then added an About page and a Box page. Now I want at add a Blog page, but when I make a new page "Posts" is not an available template choice, only Default, Banner ,Box, Carousel, Feature, and Highlight. I don't want any of these, I just want to see blog posts. I feel like I'm in a Klein Bottle.
• To set the blog page go to:

Settings > Reading

and select which page you'd like to use to display the posts.

If you want to pull posts into additional pages you can easily do so with a posts plugin:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=posts

or a category plugin:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=category

Thanks, Bryan
• I would like to achieve the same result (intro and post excerpts on homepage) I am a little disappointed that Pagelines does not make this possible. It seems like adding a "posts" Section in the Template Setup interface would do the trick. Is this something that could be added to a future release of Pagelines?

The reason anyone chooses WordPress for a CMS is because it also supports blogging. So, it would be nice if Pagelines made the manipulation of posts presenation a little easier.
• Moved to Ideas and Feedback and marked for review by the developers.

Thanks, Bryan
• You can do this, the easiest way would be using Shortcodes, Widgets, etc...

We will look into improving this and I'm sure it will get easier with time
• Has anyone figured this out yet with Pagelines Platform?

For whatever reason, I just cannot. This option is not in the settings. I have even tried the http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-most-recent-posts/ widget on like a "full width sidebar" and putting the full width sidebar on my Feature Page Template. No luck.

Thoughts?
